Scratchboard is a drawing board, usually of Masonite type,
coated with white clay with a surface layer of black ink over the clay to
produce an engraving effect. All types of tools may be used to scratch the
surface. Some of those tools are steel
wool, Xacto knives, awl type implements, wire brushes and many other items from
your imagination.
